Home Improvement

As a continuation from my previous post, I wanted to share some pics which was taken (of the house) after 3 months of renovation and hard work . What an exciting period that was!

Perfect Timing

Earlier today, I was reading through the newspaper's classified section on houses for sale and to my disbelief, the value of our home which was purchased just almost 2 years ago had gone up by 40% from the value that it was purchased for at the time. What came immediately into my mind was "Wow! How is it even possible for an average person (who's in the middle income group)  to be able to own some kind of property  today?" Everyone obviously knows that the value of landed property appreciates through time, but this is really quite ridiculous. I mean its wonderful news for home owners but really scary for one who hasn't as yet invested in one.

We were very fortunate as the amount in which our home was purchased for was below the market rate. As you can see in the pics below, the place isn't brand new. In fact the house was about a decade old, and needed some minor renovations and fixing up. But as a whole, the timing couldn't be more perfect (property market kept going upwards from then) and it was indeed a very good buy.

Spring Cleaning

Went out last night for some christmas shopping and I came across a store selling those cute "LITTLE MISS" tee's. Now I don't know about you, but I've always been a huge fan of those. So I decided to take a minute to quickly browse through, hoping that I'd find something I liked. Low and behold, I saw one with "LITTLE MISS TIDY" in purple. How appropriate! It's not that I'm a neat freak or some obsessive compulsive cleaning machine but I do like to keep things fairly neat and orderly in my household. In fact, I found it to be quite therapeutic... be it cleaning or re-arranging the furniture.

However, that wasn't the case today... Far from it! I had only intended to re- organize the top shelf of one of the cupboards to make room for some personal items, but before I knew it, I got carried away. My hands went into automode and was already dragging everything out from under all the lower shelves. It never really occured to me just how much stuff our little family have accumulated at our new home up till now. Prior to the move, we've already cleared a whole lot of items which were in top condition eg: toys, clothes etc. Perhaps this is another good time to do the same.... something like a garage sale... Sounds fun to me =)
